About Attorney Frank J. Schlehofer

Frank Schlehofer

If you call me today, I will get to know you and how your accident has changed your life.  It is only fair that you also know something about me.

My Professional History

  • I have collected 56 million dollars for hundreds of good Alaskans that were hurt, disabled, or lost loved ones in an accident.
  • For 25 years, I have focused only on helping injured Alaskans.  I do not take cases in other areas, such as divorce, wills, or criminal defense.
  • My experience as a former licensed insurance agent, combined with my experience in hundreds of injury cases, has given me the tools to help you stand face to face against the insurance company.
  • I have represented 904 hardworking Alaskans and their families, from Barrow to Juneau, when they needed help the most.
  • For 15 years, I worked on catastrophic and multi-million dollar cases at the Law Office of William G. Azar, P.C. (1991 – 2006).
  • From 2006 to 2010, I continued fighting insurance companies as a shareholder at Azar and Schlehofer, P.C.
  • In September 2010, Azar and Schlehofer, P.C. was legally changed to Schlehofer Law Offices, P.C.
  • I am a member of the Alaska Academy of Trial Lawyers and American Association for Justice.

My Family & Background

  • I met my wife Lily when we were in college. In 1986, we were married at First Congregational Church in Anchorage.
  • We have two boys, Frank and Daniel.
  • I was raised on a family farm by my parents in Chaplin, Connecticut.  Chaplin is a small town of 2,000 people located in the country.
  • My parents, Frank and Pat Schlehofer, are strong-willed but down-to-earth people.  We didn’t have much money growing up in Chaplin, and my brother and sister were born deaf, but we somehow got by.
  • While in high school, I hauled wood for our two wood stoves, took care of our farm animals, and picked apples each fall at Shashok’s Orchard in Chaplin.  In the summer, I worked odd jobs, including helping my Dad when he painted houses.
  • In 1981, I graduated from Windham Technical High School, a trade school, where I learned to be a machinist.
  • Before moving to Alaska, I worked in a motorcycle parts factory on the factory line at Connecticut Cycle Accessories.  I later worked in the tool and die machine shop.  While working at the factory, my parents decided to make the move to Alaska and my brother and I went with them.
  • My brother Dean Schlehofer is now a long time Alaskan fishing guide on the Kenai River.
  • My sister Dee Schlehofer is an Assistant Professor at the National Technical Institute for the deaf.
  • In 1986, I graduated from the University of Alaska, cum laude, with a bachelor’s degree, while working two nighttime janitor jobs at Carr’s grocery store and the Anchorage Federal Court Building in 1984.
  • In 1990, I graduated from the University of Puget Sound School of Law, cum laude.  I passed the Alaska Bar in 1990.
  • In 2002, I was standing in the Anchorage Federal Court House.  I was in front of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.  Just 18 years earlier, I was a night janitor in that same courthouse, but now I was there fighting for my client Gerald.  He had been hurt in an accident.  I looked up at the three judges and argued his case hard.  I won.
